The club runs free skills sessions every Tuesday evening along Thompson Road, drawing children from nearby housing estates who previously travelled to larger venues. Further south, the Belmont Recreation Reserve now hosts a weekly mixed netball competition launched in May 2026 by the Geelong Community Sports Association, with 18 teams competing on courts upgraded last year using council grant funding.
These sites sit within walking distance of main roads and public transport stops, reducing barriers for shift workers and single-parent households. Organisers track attendance through simple sign-in sheets that also capture post-session feedback on what keeps participants returning.
Numbers show sustained local investment
Membership fees at both venues remain capped at 185 dollars for the full season, including insurance and equipment loans. Club records show total junior memberships across these two locations reached 1,150 players by the first weekend of July 2026, up from 940 in 2025. Volunteer hours logged through the Geelong Community Sports Association app totalled 4,800 in the past quarter alone, covering coaching, canteen shifts and ground maintenance.
Next month the Warriors will open their annual open day at Stead Park on 9 August, inviting residents from Lara and Norlane to trial sessions without prior registration. Belmont organisers plan to extend their netball draw by two divisions if current waitlists hold through the end of July.
