Geelong Tech Sector Unveils Major Product Launches for 2026

Local firms and Deakin University researchers have scheduled three major software platforms and a sensor network expansion for release between August and December this year.

The timing follows a 22 percent rise in venture funding for Victorian regional tech projects during the first quarter of 2026, pushing developers to lock in delivery dates before the next budget cycle begins.

Work on the sensor network will centre on the Geelong Innovation Precinct along Brougham Street, where engineers will install 180 environmental monitors linked to a new dashboard used by the City of Greater Geelong. Parallel testing of an AI-driven logistics tool will occur at a warehouse facility on the corner of Moorabool Street and Little Malop Street, operated by a spin-out from the university's Waurn Ponds campus.

Internal planning documents reviewed last month list 14 discrete features across the three platforms, with a total development budget of $3.8 million and a target of 2,400 pilot users by 31 December 2026.

Product timelines

The first item, an emissions-tracking module, is booked for an 18 August rollout at the precinct site. A second package focused on port cargo optimisation is slated for late October, while the third, a community energy-sharing app, carries a November beta date. Each release includes a 90-day support window and on-site training sessions at the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre.

Companies interested in early access can register through the precinct's online portal before 25 July. Individuals living within the trial zones will receive direct mail notices in the coming fortnight that include opt-in details and a contact number for the project team.
