Geelong Waterfront: Dining, Art and Eastern Beach
Geelong's waterfront precinct along Corio Bay has been significantly developed over recent decades and is now the social centre of the city. Eastern Beach, with its heritage Art Deco swimming enclosure and boardwalk, is free to swim at and popular on warmer days. The foreshore running from Eastern Beach northwest through Steampacket Place and Cunningham Pier is lined with restaurants, cafes and bars, and the carousel adjacent to the pier is a Geelong landmark. The Waterfront is also home to cultural spaces including the National Wool Museum in the former Dalgety wool store, one of the most significant industrial heritage buildings in the country. The Geelong Botanical Gardens, a short walk up from the waterfront, are free to enter.
