Surf Coast Guide from Geelong: Torquay, Jan Juc and Beyond

The Surf Coast, beginning at Torquay and Jan Juc about 30 kilometres south of Geelong, is one of Australia's most significant surfing destinations and the gateway to the Great Ocean Road. Bells Beach at Torquay is among the most famous surf breaks in the world, hosting the annual Rip Curl Pro competition. The Australian National Surfing Museum in Torquay covers the history of Australian surfing with a strong collection of boards and memorabilia. Jan Juc beach to the south is a quieter surf beach with a strong local culture. Torquay town itself has a dense collection of surf brands (Rip Curl and Quiksilver were both founded here), making it a shopping destination for surf gear and apparel.
