Cycling in Geelong: The Waterfront Trail, Bellarine Rail Trail and Beyond

Geelong has an excellent cycling network taking advantage of its flat bay geography and the surrounding Bellarine Peninsula. The Geelong Waterfront cycling path running along Eastern Beach and Rippleside is the most popular recreational route in the city. The Bellarine Rail Trail follows a former railway corridor for 35 kilometres from South Geelong through Drysdale and Queenscliff, with views across the Bellarine's farming landscape and Port Phillip Bay. The Surf Coast Walk and associated cycling paths connect Torquay south toward Anglesea. The Geelong Ring Road shared path provides a dedicated cycling corridor for commuters. Hire bikes and e-bikes are available from operators near the waterfront and at Torquay. The ride from Geelong waterfront to Barwon Heads along the Bellarine rail trail is one of the region's most popular half-day cycling routes.
